Thank TikTok for this reunion and crossover! On Friday, Will Smith shared a video of himself re-creating an iconic Fresh Prince of Bel-Air scene with co-star Tatyana Ali to the tune of “Anxiety” by Doechii — who also makes an appearance in the video.
The clip, which reimagines a scene from Fresh Prince‘s 1990 pilot episode, sees Smith copying Ali’s dance moves before spotting the actor dancing along. Doechii then comes into the frame to join the dance party. “Waited 35 years for this dance to trend,” joked Smith in the caption.
The dance trend to “Anxiety,” which samples Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know,” started trending several weeks ago. Smith even reposted the original clip from Fresh Prince to the tune of Doechii’s song. “I’ve been watching y’all and every video has been better than the last!! Love that track @Doechii. @Tatyana Ali remember this?” he wrote earlier this month.
Doechii and Smith shared the dance after posting a clip of them mimicking each other’s moves in the mirror with the caption: “Somebody’s watching me, it’s my anxiety.”
Doechii officially released “Anxiety” last week after sharing it on YouTube in 2019 as part of her Coven Music Sessions. Rapper Sleepy Hallow sampled Doechii’s “Anxiety” on his own song in 2023. “And now people want me to release the full version and now we’re here!” she previously said.
Shortly after the silly clips with Doechii and Ali, Smith shared the album cover for his upcoming album, Based on a True Story, out March 28. “Been working on this project for a minute and I’m itchin’ to get it out to y’all,” he captioned the post. The 14-song album, whose tracks he called “episodes,” will include songs such as “Hard Times (Smile)” with Teyana Taylor, “Work of Art” with Jaden, and “Beautiful Scars” with Obanga.
Smith started teasing his music earlier this year with “Beautiful Scars” with Big Sean and “First Love” on Valentine’s Day.
