Will Smith and Tatyana Ali recreate viral ‘Fresh Prince’ dance — with help from Doechii

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air stars Will Smith and Tatyana Ali, the original cousins Will and Ashley on the iconic ’90s sitcom, reunited Friday to recreate a memorable scene from the pilot.

It featured Ali wearing headphones as she busts a move, before, unbeknownst to her, Will begins to mimic her from behind. The dance is one that has gone viral on TikTok as of late, with Smith himself having shared the original clip earlier this month. Max, where the series is available to stream, did the same. The song “Anxiety” by Doechii is the music used in the videos people have created.

So it only made sense that Doechii would join Smith and Ali in their new production.

Watch it and the original below.

Smith captioned the new version, “Waited 35 years for this dance to trend.”

Ali notably appeared on several episodes of Bel-Air, Peacock’s dramatic reboot of Fresh Prince, as Mrs. Hughes, the English teacher of that show’s Ashley (Akira Akbar).

“When I got to the set and I was actually [at] Bel-Air Academy, that set with all the kids walking by in their uniforms, it was crazy,” Ali told E! News in February 2023. “It was like nothing I’ve ever experienced. The emotional, psychological stuff that went on was weird in a really good way.”

Looking back on the original series, whose cast has reunited multiple times, Ali had nothing but love. She spent most of her teenage years on the NBC hit.

“We just had so much fun. It was a great place to grow up,” she told PEOPLE in August 2024. “And I know, especially now, that’s not everybody’s story, certainly not every child actor’s story. But it was a really supportive environment for me, and they’re my family. I love them.”

The throwback dance video arrived the same day that Smith announced that he will release a new album, his first full-length collection in more than 20 years. Based on a True Story will include collaborations with DJ Jazzy Jeff, Big Sean, Teyana Taylor, and Jac Ross. His son Jaden appears on the song “Work of Art,” one of several previously released singles that will be included. The new album is set to drop March 28.
