The 2025 award season’s biggest event of the year was last night, and while the Academy Awards are mostly about honoring the best films of the year, the red carpet looks are equally (if not more) anticipated. Anora was the night’s unexpected favorite, walking away with the most wins, including Best Picture and Best Leading Actress for breakout star Mikey Madison.
While the show was running late (as always), our focus was on the uncanny resemblance between the design details on the red carpet and the ones in our favorite homes. Unable to get the similarities out of our head, we scoured the House Beautiful archives to pair the best outfits of the night with an interior moment that matches.
From Ariana Grande’s Galinda-esque Schiaparelli moment to Demi Moore’s crystal-studded Giorgio Armani Privé gown, we’re reimagining Hollywood’s biggest night as rooms from the top interior designers.
More inspiration from the Oscars:
Ariana Grande
Wearing Schiaparelli, Grande steps out in predictable (and cheerful) Galinda pink. The scalloped skirt resembles perfectly pleated drapery, or…a jellyfish. In House Beautiful’s 2023 Whole Home, the feminine living room is adorned in the same soft pinks as Grande’s gown. The interior designer Caitlin Wilson was inspired by Downton Abbey for this layout.
Colman Domingo
The Academy Award-nominated actor for Sing Sing abandoned the traditional tuxedo in favor of a scarlet red suit with matching waist-tie. Dramatic and glamorous, we’re pairing Domingo with this crimson dining room by Ellie Cullman.
Cynthia Erivo
Grande’s Wicked counterpart, Erivo wore a rich, hunter green gown with sculptural details by Louis Vuitton. Similarly as elevated and elegant, this verdant bar in movie executive Ricky Strauss’s California home gives major Elphaba energy.
Demi Moore
The iconic actress continued her run of great awards show looks with a slim Giorgio Armani Privé gown adorned with 3D crystal elements. Continuing the glam feeling, we’re pairing Moore with this shining dining room by Tina Ramchandani.
Timothée Chalamet
Taking the untraditional route, as is expected for the fashion-obsessed actor, Chalamet stepped out in a sunshine yellow suit, courtesy of Givenchy. The cheerful hue is a favorite in the design industry this year. Pantone just released a similar shade in honor of Drew Barrymore’s 50th birthday. We’re pairing Chalamet with this equally sunny mudroom by Kobel + Co.
Michelle Yeoh
The Academy Award-winning actress stepped onto the red carpet in a striking cobalt blue gown by Balenciaga. This living room by Tina Ramchandani takes the hue to new heights by playing with texture and a high-gloss paint finish.
Mikey Madison
Channeling sophistication and old Hollywood, Madison’s dress is a far cry from her character’s style in Anora. The slim, pink gown includes a striking off-the-shoulder train, accented in black. Similarly, this bedroom by Lisa Tharp is swathed in pink textiles, but the sleek furniture shapes give it an edge.
Zoe Saldaña
Oxblood has proven to be the color of the year, and Saldaña proves it with her bubble-tiered dress by Yves Saint Laurent. In a Georgian-inspired home in Texas, designed by Marie Flanigan, an equally dramatic library is drenched in high-gloss maroon paint (Carriage Door by Sherwin-Williams).
Andrew Garfield
Decked out in another color of the year, Garfield wore a chocolate brown suit with wide lapels. The vintage-inspired look, made better by the actor’s orange-lensed glasses, gives us similar vibes to designer Amber Lewis’s draped screening room.
Jeremy Strong
Strong has worn green to every awards show this season (who can forget the Golden Globes bucket hat), and we’re loving his commitment to the moment. One of the most method and zen actors out there right now, this meditation room by Marie Flanigan is somewhere Strong would feel right at home, and it happens to match his olive Loro Piana suit.
