ORLANDO, Fla. —SpaceX launched another Starship test flight on Thursday. Similar to test flight 7 in January, the Starship lost contact within minutes of the launch.

The spacecraft came apart and exploded, according to SpaceX officials.

During Starship’s ascent burn, the vehicle experienced a rapid unscheduled disassembly and contact was lost. Our team immediately began coordination with safety officials to implement pre-planned contingency responses.

Debris from the wreckage could be seen streaming across the skies of Florida.
A Palm Coast man captured video of the Starship test flight 8 debris falling from the sky.
In Merritt Island, space debris was mistaken for a crashing aircraft over the ocean.
Some Florida residents even captured the moment debris fell from the sky while driving.
The explosion grounded multiple airports across the U.S., including Orlando International Airport, due to possible debris.
However, the ground stop was lifted shortly after.
