A tornado touched down Saturday in Smith County, causing significant damage to homes and power lines in Taylorsville.Huge trees were uprooted and others were torn in half. There was damage to Taylorsville Farm Supply and other businesses, as well.Danielle Berry, a storm chaser who traveled from Texas to Taylorsville, said she and two other people had been staked out for hours when the storm hit.”We could have been in a really nasty situation, where we were stuck with the down trees, and if a tornado would have come through, we would have had no escape,” Berry said. “It’s exhausting. Your head is on a swivel if you are chasing alone. It’s very dangerous. There are a lot of things you need to look at: the radar, navigation, taking pictures. You are doing a lot.”Berry said once the tornado passed, she ran to a damaged house to make sure no one was hurt.”Thank God I haven’t seen any injuries. Thank God most of the people are safe out here,” Berry said.Smith County Emergency Management Agency confirms no injuries have been reported, but there were downed power lines and damage to several houses.

SMITH COUNTY, Miss. —A tornado touched down Saturday in Smith County, causing significant damage to homes and power lines in Taylorsville.
