If the last Invincible post-credits scene didn’t clue you in by now, consider it official: Season 3 is finally the season where fans will get the Invincible War.
In that epic one-issue event from the Robert Kirkman-penned comics, the world’s heroes band together to thwart evil alternate-dimension variants of Mark Grayson that were unleashed on the Earth by Angstrom Levy. On the show, the ending tag for season 3’s sixth episode confirmed that Angstrom (Sterling K. Brown) is indeed alive. In addition to a new tech-enhanced form, he used his powers to open portals into different realities to assemble his own team of violent Invincibles.
Now you can see a sneak peek of the havoc these variants will bring in Entertainment Weekly‘s exclusive clip from episode 7, titled “What Have I Done?” (shown above). The footage shows the evil Marks attacking various locations all around the globe, including the high-security prison that our Mark (Steven Yeun) and Atom Eve (Gillian Jacobs) police.
Invincible co-showrunner Simon Racioppa tells EW he and Kirkman, also a co-showrunner and executive producer, have been thinking about Invincible War “since before we made the show.”

“That was always a thought: ‘I hope we get lucky enough to go that many seasons to do that episode,'” he says. “And then it was like, ‘Oh man, how are we going to do that episode? How do we do this many characters, this many locations, this much action, and keep the quality as high as we can?’ It was always both something incredible and exciting to look forward to, and something daunting that we didn’t want to f— up.”

Yeun also voices all of the attacking Invincibles… and there are many! The footage sees all manner of Marks tearing through the United States, Russia, Japan, and China, though there are even more. “There were a couple that we tried to pop off the page a little bit in the dialogue,” Racioppa says of adapting the variants from the comics. “Like Mohawk Invincible. He was a lot of fun to write and do dialogue tweaks on because he is just such an asshole and is so belligerent about it.”
“What Have I Done?” will premiere tonight at midnight PT on Amazon’s Prime Video streaming platform. Check back tomorrow for EW’s full deep-dive conversation about the episode’s surprises with the creators.
