Snow to bring messy travel to Maine Monday afternoon

PORTLAND (WGME) — Snow will move in by late morning Monday and will lead to slick travel across Maine for Monday afternoon and evening.

More chances for rain and snow are in the forecast for later this week.

Snow will begin late in the morning Monday and will pick up into the afternoon. Snow will fall heavily at times, leading to slick travel, especially away from the coast.

The heaviest totals will be inland with 2-5″ expected, lesser amounts are expected along the coast with a change to rain likely by the late afternoon or early evening. Snow and rain will come to an end during the evening hours. Highs will be in the 30s for Monday.

Quieter weather returns on Tuesday, with partly sunny skies and highs in the mid to upper 40s. A shower can’t be completely ruled out.

Wednesday will bring another chance for rain or snow. A system will pass by into Wednesday afternoon and light amounts of rain or snow are possible, there could again be some areas of slick travel.

Things look to clear out on Thursday. We’ll see the most sun of the week with highs in the 40s.

Friday looks to bring more clouds with highs in the 40s.

Things will turn more unsettled heading into the weekend. Some rain and snow will be possible as a system approaches from the west. Temperatures will be chilly, mainly in the 30s. Stay tuned to the forecast this week.
