Heavy snowfall across New England is creating a boon for ski resorts — and their patrons — as freezing temperatures mean better conditions for East Coast mountains than out West.
Nearly 30 feet (9.1 meters) of snow has already blanketed Jay Peak, making it one of the snowiest resorts in the US so far this year, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. It’s a welcome reprieve for business owners after back-to-back seasons of milder temperatures led to a dearth of snowfall across every state east of the Mississippi River.
