R&B singer Angie Stone died in a car crash early Saturday, her management company said. She was 63.
Stone was involved in a crash around 4 a.m. local time Saturday while driving to Atlanta from Alabama, Walter Millsap III of Conjunction Entertainment, her management company, told USA TODAY. The vehicle she was traveling in “flipped over and was subsequently hit by a big rig,” Millsap added.
Except for Stone, all others involved in the crash survived, Millsap said Saturday afternoon.
The Grammy-nominated singer rose to prominence in the 1970s as a member of female rap group The Sequence before a solo career that produced hits like “Wish I Didn’t Miss You.” She was also a member of the R&B trio Vertical Hold.
This is a developing story.
