Series of quakes rumble in East Bay Thursday

(KRON) — A preliminary 2.7-magnitude earthquake rattled the East Bay early Thursday morning, followed by several more quakes later in the day, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The epicenters were approximately 2 miles southeast of Hayward.

The first tremblor occurred at 5:03 a.m., USGS said. The depth of the quake was 3.1 miles.

At 11:52 a.m., the 3.4-magnitude struck, followed by a 3.2-magnitude aftershock.

At 1:59 p.m., a 3.7-magnitude quake occurred around the same area.

At 4:45 p.m., a 2.5-magnitude jolted an area near Pleasant Hill.

People reported feeling shaking near Hayward, Castro Valley and San Leandro, according to USGS’s “Did You Feel It?” survey.

There were no initial reports of damages or injuries.
