Savannah Guthrie Says This Savory Snack Pairing Was Hoda Kotb’s ‘Greatest Gift’ to Her

Savannah Guthrie has countless memories with her co-anchor and friend, Hoda Kotb, but one experience—and snack—that the two shared ranks above the rest.

During the “Hoda-bration” on Friday, Jan. 10, the Today personalities gathered to share one last round of laughs with several special guests—including Jamie Lee Curtis, Simone Biles, Oprah, Kermit the Frog and Kotb’s two daughters—as her colleagues bid their bittersweet adieus to Kotb.

During the Jan. 10 broadcast, Guthrie and Kotb were inseparable as they celebrated the 60-year-old and her biggest moments with the network, leading Guthrie to reveal the “greatest gift” she ever received from her.

As Today wrapped up its 8 a.m. hour, Kotb was with the items needed to make the savory snack, which left her confused. “Wait, what is this?” she questioned.

“Hoda has like, OK, she’s like, ‘My favorite snack is a Fritos Scoop with onion dip,'” Guthrie said, impersonating her co-star. “OK, it’s delicious.”

Kotb then let everyone in on her recipe secret: it’s not the pre-made dip you can buy in the refrigerated section of a grocery store. “It’s French onion dip,” she clarified. “You have to rip open the Lipton [soup] packets and dump it in.”

“Let’s eat our feelings,” Guthrie joked, clearly sad to see her friend go but excited for the new path she’s taking.

“If you have not tried Fritos with French onion dip,” the 53-year-old added, enticing fans before looking to her co-star to offer one more piece of gratitude: “I feel like that’s one of your greatest gifts you’ve ever given me, is the knowledge of this snack.”

While today is Kotb’s last full day co-hosting Today, it won’t be the last you see of her. The beloved TV personality recently revealed how she plans to remain involved with the program and NBC even after her final episode airs.

“Yes, you will [see me on TV],” she exclusively shared with Parade. “So I will be going to the Olympics in Milan and in Los Angeles. Actually, when they were saying, ‘Let’s do things together’—of course I am part of NBC and will be—I said, ‘How about if we do the Olympics?’ So I’ll be kind of in a Snoop [Dogg]-ish role working with the Today show in Milan and in L.A. I’m going to continue to do my ‘Making Space’ podcast, which I love deeply.”

“It is such a part of me, and I’ll be coming back to the Today show, maybe once a month in the springtime to talk about stuff and maybe do a story here and there, that kind of thing,” Kotb explained. “And I’m excited about that, too, because I’ve never been there in that capacity. So I think that would be fun, too. So I get to just play with my friends again.”
