Rihanna Shares Reaction To A$AP Rocky’s Verdict In Gun Assault Trial

Things looked bleak for A$AP Rocky for a few months given his trial for assault with a semiautomatic firearm. However, the tides slowly turned and the world watched the Harlem rapper be pronounced not guilty this week, which drew subsequent reactions from himself and his partner Rihanna.

Literal seconds after Rocky got the favorable verdict, he flung himself over a barrier and into the mogul’s arms before embracing his family members who were also present. Rih took to her Instagram story to share her joy over the moment, writing, “The Glory belongs to God and God alone. Thankful, humbled by his mercy!”

Rocky and the Anti singer have been dating for a few years now and have had two children, Rza and Riot, in the process. Their relationship status was one of the few funny parts of a very serious trial, where the judge refused to call the “Work” singer his “common-law wife” or “wife” if they were not legally married.

A$AP Rocky was on trial for assault with a semiautomatic firearm due to a situation with his former friend A$AP Relli in 2021. The entire world was shocked to learn that he denied a plea deal that would have yielded him a lesser sentence and no trial at all; his lawyer Joe Tacopina stood firm in believing justice would be served upon the “Fashion Killa” rapper sharing his side of things.

“He’s eager to tell his story,” Tacopina stated in court. “He would love the opportunity to do so. He’s a good human being, and that would come out if he testifies. But that’s a decision that has not been made yet. It depends on how the case goes.”

There were other head-scratching moments such as Rocky claiming the gun he shot at Relli wasn’t real, his manager claiming ownership of gun ammo found in his home, his attempt to stop A$AP Twelvyy from explaining the meaning of AWGE, and a back-and-forth between Relli and Tacopina over using the “n-word.” Despite all of the twists and turns, Rocky is free and seems focused on putting out his long-awaited album Don’t Be Dumb, given his first tweet post-trial on Tuesday evening (Feb. 18).
