LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Las Vegas Raiders lost a couple of key defensive contributors to free agency Monday, per multiple reports.

Linebacker Robert Spillane is signing with the New England Patriots, and safety Tre’von Moehrig is signing with the Carolina Panthers.

Monday marked the start of the NFL’s legal tampering period, when free agents are free to negotiate with other teams. The free agency signing period officially opens with the new league year on Wednesday.

Spillane joined the Raiders in 2023 and appeared in all 34 games over the last two seasons. He had 158 tackles in 2024, including 10 for a loss, plus three quarterback hits and two sacks.

Off the field, Spillane was Las Vegas’ nominee for the NFL’s Salute to Service Award. He and his wife helped Air Force families at Nellis Air Force Base pick out Christmas trees and took part in other holiday events. He also took part in the Day of Gratitude, a resource fair that connected veterans with health, social and financial services.

The Raiders selected Moehrig in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of TCU.

Last season, he had 104 tackles, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and 10 passes defended.
