(WPDE) — Pee Dee fire crews made the trip to the Grand Strand to assist with the Carolina Forest wildfire.

Early on Sunday morning, Florence Fire Rescue sent over four engines, four tankers, and four brush trucks.

Howe Springs Fire Chief and Assistant Mobilization Coordinator advises people across the Pee Dee to obey the burn ban and be prepared with an emergency plan, just in case.

“I just want to commend all the firemen that are down there and doing work and just ask that the community, you know be patient, be vigilant with obeying the burn ban and we can get this thing under control and things will go back to normal,” said Billy Dillon, Howe Springs Fire Chief and Mobilization Coordinator.

Chief Dillon said with the number of fire personnel sent to Horry County, he expects the fire to be contained within the next day or two.

Meanwhile, the 77-acre fire in Darlington County reported on Saturday is now under containment.
