Oscars 2025: Why Kylie Jenner Switched Seats During Timothée Chalamet’s Moment

Watch: Why Kylie Jenner Moved Back One Row at Oscars During Timothée Chalamet’s Big Moment

Timothée Chalamet had not one, but two beautiful ladies by his side at the 2025 Oscars.

The A Complete Unknown star made headlines during the 97th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on March 2 when he showed up to the annual ceremony with girlfriend Kylie Jenner by his side. (See every celebrity on the Oscars red carpet here.)

The Oscar nominee, 29, looked dashing in a custom yellow Givenchy suit while the 27-year-old Kardashians star stunned in a black full-length custom Miu Miu gown. The lovebirds were caught on camera multiple times during the telecast and even got their PDA on in the audience by stealing some smooches in the front row.

However, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Kylie went missing from her seat when it came time for Timmy’s category, Best Lead Actor, to be announced. So where did the makeup mogul go?

Kylie simply most back one row of seats during a commercial break so that Timothée’s mom Nicole Flender could join him and be by her son’s side during his special moment.

Nicole and Kylie were even snapped chatting from their seats, proving Kylie is definitely parent-approved in the Chalamet household.

The Lead Actor win ultimately went to The Brutalist‘s Adrien Brody. (See the full list of 2025 Oscar winners here.) Sing Sing‘s Colman Domingo, Conclave‘s Ralph Fiennes and The Apprentice‘s Sebastian Stan were also up for the trophy.

This isn’t the first time Nicole has served as Timothée’s award show date. She supported the Wonka star at the 2025 SAG Awards last month where he won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role.

“I’ll start by thanking my mother who I’m here with tonight,” the actor noted during his acceptance speech. “She has been working at Actors’ Equity for 40 years, in the stage union.”

And when it came to portraying the iconic Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, the young star took the role extremely seriously.

“I know the classiest thing would be to downplay the effort that went into this role and how much this means to me,” he said at the SAGs, “but the truth is this was five and half years of my life.”

Noting that he is “in pursuit of greatness” when it comes to his craft, he added, “I know people don’t usually talk that but I wanna be one of the greats, I’m inspired by the greats. I’m as inspired by Daniel Day LewisMarlon Brando and Viola Davis as I am Michael Jordan and Michael Phelps.”
