Instacart’s data shows that pie preferences vary depending on where people live.
Pumpkin pie was popular in Florida and west coast states, including California, Oregon, Washington, Utah, and Nevada.
Cherry pie is beloved in the Midwest part of the nation like Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Iowa, and in other regions of the country from Arizona to West Virginia.

Pecan pie is the go-to dessert in the South from Texas to the Carolinas.
And while eastern states like a more of a variety like chocolate pie, lemon meringue, and key lime pie, blueberry pie is a favorite in Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.

According to Instacart, certain pies were favored among consumers given what they spent their money on. Apple pie accounted for 29% of all pie sales in 2024, followed by pumpkin pie, with 23%, and pecan pie at 9% of all pie sales. However, raspberry and vanilla cream pies were least preferred by Americans, only garnering 0.02% of pies sold last year.
