Notre Dame-Penn State Betting Line Shifts Suddenly Right Before Orange Bowl Kickoff

The No. 7 seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish are set to face off against the No. 6 seed Penn State Nittany Lions in an Orange Bowl matchup on Thursday night.

The Fighting Irish reached this point with impressive College Football Playoff wins over the No. 10 seed Indiana Hoosiers and No. 2 seed Georgia Bulldogs. Penn State punched its ticket to the Orange Bowl with wins over the No. 11 seed SMU Mustangs and No. 3 seed Boise State Broncos.

Notre Dame had been listed as a narrow favorite over the Nittany Lions throughout the week leading up to tonight’s College Football Playoff semifinal matchup. But just before kickoff, the betting line suddenly shifted in favor of Penn State.

The Nittany Lions are now listed as a 1.5-point favorite over the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame had been listed as a 1.5-point favorite for much of the week, marking a sudden three-point swing.

While Penn State is now favored, this College Football Playoff game is still expected to deliver a closely-contested final score. Thursday’s contest will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. EST from Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.

The winner of this semifinal matchup will face off against the winner of No. 8 Ohio State and No. 5 Texas in the national title game. The Buckeyes and Longhorns will face off in a Cotton Bowl matchup on Friday evening.
