“I’m doing really good. As you can tell there’s a lot of energy flowing through my body right now,” Boone, 22, tells PEOPLE.
He adds, “This is very crazy for me. There’s a lot of cool people here. I’m really excited to perform. I’m kind of like… crapping my pants right now.”

This year, Boone earned his first Grammy nomination for best new artist and will take the stage for a performance.
When asked about his talents and the journey that led him to this moment, Boone kept his answer short and sweet.
“In between four-and-a-half and five years ago I discovered I could sing,” he says. “Ever since then I do it every day. It’s like my greatest passion and I’m just happy that I could make a living out of it.”

Speaking with PEOPLE in March 2023, the “Ghost Town” singer said that he discovered he could sing during his senior year of high school in Monroe, Washington.

“The only musical thing I’d ever do is we had family dinner every night and we’d clean up the kitchen and listen to old ’70s music after,” he said of his musical background before he entered a high school battle of the bands contest with his longtime friend, Eric.
He added, “I just started singing with everything I had, and it worked. My voice just was there. From that day on, I started singing more, and I started eventually posting videos [online].”
