NBA Makes Major LeBron James Announcement After Lakers-Knicks

As LeBron James navigates his way through season No. 22 in the NBA, he continues to leave his mark on the record books. James has shown no signs of slowing down in his 40-year-old season. If anything, he’s speeding up, as he’s fresh off another Player of the Month award from February (he’s won 41 in his career).

Earlier this week, James became the first player in NBA history to score 50,000 points. Earlier this season, James also passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most minutes played in NBA history (55,586). And to go along with all those minutes played, James made his way up another historic leaderboard.

After the Los Angeles Lakers took down the New York Knicks 113-109 in overtime, the NBA announced that James had passed Tim Duncan, moving into third place all-time in regular season total wins with 1,002.

James now trails only Robert Parish (1,014) and Abdul-Jabbar (1,074). As of Thursday night, James has won 64.7 % of the games he has played. At that pace, assuming health, James could pass Abdul-Jabbar for most regular season wins of all-time next season.

With his uber-talented new partner in crime, Luka Doncic at his side, the Lakers appear poised to win many more games in the near-future.

The Lakers have now won eight consecutive games, holding a record of 40-21. They hold sole possession of second place in the Western Conference and like James, also show no signs of slowing down.

James and the Lakers’ chance for their next win comes Saturday night, on the road, against the Boston Celtics.
