Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny was a happy man after playing a starring role in the 1-0 win over Benfica.
Szczesny was in brilliant form to keep a clean sheet in what was surely his best performance since coming out of retirement to sign for the club.
The stopper was asked about that after the game but insisted there’s more to come.
“My best game is yet to come,” he said. “I liked my save in the 25th minute. When we played here a month ago we conceded a lot of goals, so it was important not to concede anything today. Pedri has taken the trophy for best player, but I think I can take half of it.”
Yet Szczesny also warned his team-mates not to get carried away as the job is not done just yet.
“We are very happy. The work is not over. There is one game left to play and we have to finish in a professional manner,” he added
“We understood what we had to do after the expulsion. We played compactly, limiting counterattacks. We showed that we can win games by showing the other side of this team.”
Barca do have the advantage heading into the home leg but will be optimistic they can finish the job in front of their own fans next week.
