MLB’s John Rocker, Patrick Mahomes Sr.’s argument continues on social media

A heated altercation between former Major League Baseball pitchers John Rocker and Patrick Mahomes, the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes II, went viral after the two were seen in a verbal confrontation on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.

The incident, which took place during Super Bowl week, almost escalated into a physical fight before bystanders intervened to separate them.

A video on social media shows Rocker, holding a drink and approaching the elder Mahomes, shouting, “What’s up, dude?” Rocker appears to attempt to shake his hand, but Mahomes reacts aggressively, seemingly shouting something back at Rocker before the two begin yelling expletives at one another while people step in to separate them.

As Mahomes was being ushered away, Rocker threw his drink in his direction. It remains unclear what started the confrontation, and no punches were thrown.

Feud Spills Onto Social Media

The argument did not end there. The two former professional baseball players continued their dispute online, exchanging heated messages on X, formerly Twitter.

On Tuesday, Rocker wrote on the platform, “This f****** loser can’t take a d*** joke.”

Mahomes replied: “You really haven’t changed one bit in the last 25 years. Keep my name out your loud mouth.”

Rocker responded: “You wouldn’t have had the balls to say that to my face the other night. Lanky a** clown.”

Mahomes then said, “John Rocker is a menace to society,” while Rocker posted, “F*** PATRICK MAHOMES.”

This isn’t the first time Mahomes, who played in the MLB from 1992 to 2003, has made headlines in recent months. He is serving five years of probation after pleading guilty to his third driving while intoxicated charge in August. As part of his sentencing, he is under one year of “intense supervision,” local outlets reported.

Rocker, who played in the MLB from 1998 to 2003, has a long history of controversy, dating back to his infamous 1999 Sports Illustrated interview, where he made racist and homophobic remarks about New Yorkers.

Despite both men having played in the MLB during the same era, they were never teammates and had no known history of personal animosity before this confrontation.

While the cause of their dispute remains unclear, based on their social media exchange, it seems neither side is willing to back down.
