Hayden Haynes, chief of staff to House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-Louisiana, was arrested for drunken driving after his car collided with a Capitol vehicle following President Donald Trump‘s joint address to Congress, two law enforcement sources told NBC News.
Johnson’s office also confirmed the incident to the network.
One of the sources told NBC News that a police report stated Haynes struck a Capitol vehicle around midnight and was subsequently arrested and released with a citation to appear in court.
The arrest came just hours after Trump’s speech Tuesday night, during which Speaker Johnson presided over the House floor.
