Microsoft Outlook issues are being reported nationwide

BUFFALO, N.Y. — If you’re having problems with Microsoft Outlook, don’t worry, you’re not alone.

A heat map on the website Downdetector — which provides a real-time overview of issues and outages of services — showed that a number of markets across the United States and Canada were unable to access the popular personal information manager software system.

Users reported having trouble accessing their mail, calendars, and contacts on desktops and mobile devices.

The map showed that Buffalo, Toronto, and New York City were among the hot spots for service outages. Other cities impacted included Boston, Washington, Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and Vancouver.

The reported outages started at 3:27 p.m., according to Downdetector, then quickly climbed to nearly 40,000 reports during the next 60 minutes.

“We’re investigating an issue in which users may be unable to access Outlook features and services. Additional details can be found under MO1020913 in the admin center,” the Microsoft 365 Status account on X said at 4:34 p.m.

Around 5 p.m., the same X account said, “We’ve identified a potential cause of impact and have reverted the suspected code to alleviate impact. We’re monitoring telemetry to confirm recovery.”

Last July, an issue with CrowdStrike led to Microsoft Windows for days.
