Tech mogul Mark Zuckerberg was in attendance at the inauguration of President Donald Trump on Monday.
The billionaire CEO of Meta, formerly known as Facebook, was spotted at the Inauguration Day ceremony after grabbing headlines in recent days for announcing that Meta would be cutting 5% of its total workforce, focusing on the company’s lowest-performing employees. The layoffs come after the company scrapped its U.S. fact-checking program and reduced curbs on discussions around contentious topics such as immigration and gender identity.
The Meta CEO met with Trump after his win in the 2024 presidential election, according to multiple reports including CBS and the New York Times. And more recently, he named Trump ally and UFC boss Dana White to Meta’s board of directors and elevated prominent Republican Joel Kaplan to lead its global affairs operation.
