Ladd McConkey Makes NFL History During Chargers-Texans

The Los Angeles Chargers traveled to Houston, Texas, for the NFL playoffs Wild Card round. 

Quarterback Justin Herbert was looking to secure the first playoff win of his career, while the Chargers entered its first postseason under head coach Jim Harbaugh

During the matchup against the Chargers and Texans, rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey made NFL history, earning the rookie record for the most receiving yards by a first-year wide receiver. 

 McConkey produced 197 receiving yards, nine receptions and a touchdown grab in the fourth quarter. He led the Chargers in all three categories in terms of the receiving corps. 

Despite the elite play from McConkey, the Chargers suffered a 32-12 loss. 

McConkey passed a couple of talented wide receivers en route to his historical record, such as Puka Nacua, DK Metcalf, Keenan Allen, Keith Jackson and Rashee Rice. 

After selecting McConkey with the No. 34 overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, Los Angeles seems to have found their No. 1 option at wide receiver.

McConkey has proven to be one of the most promising rookies in the NFL, placing him in the Offensive Rookie of the Year debate with young stars such as, Bo Nix, Jayden Daniels, and Brock Bowers

The second-round prospect out of Georgia finished his rookie season with eight touchdowns and 1,346 yards on 91 receptions.
