Halle Berry is giving Adrien Brody a taste of his own medicine on the Oscars 2025 red carpet!

The duo recreated their famous Academy Awards kiss ahead of the show, and Berry, 58, shared a video of the moment on her Instagram alongside a cheeky caption. “Surpriseee @adrienbrody!! I had to get some payback 😉🫶🏽,” she wrote.

The official Academy Award Instagram account also shared the kiss in a video that showed Berry approaching The Brutalist actor, 51, with her arms wide open. She then planted a big kiss on Brody before they shared a warm embrace.

The red carpet moment comes 22 years after Brody kissed an unsuspecting Berry at the 2003 Academy Awards. After he was announced the winner of Best Actor for The Pianist, Brody kissed Berry, who presented the award. 

“I bet they didn’t tell you that was in the gift bag,” he joked during his acceptance speech while looking at Berry, who wiped her lip and appeared caught off guard. 

The moment was laughed off at the time, but it has since been criticized.

“We live in a very conscious time, which is a wonderful thing,” Brody, 51, told Variety earlier this month. “And nothing that I ever do or have done or would’ve done is ever done with the intention of making anyone feel bad.”

Despite the criticism, Berry continues to support the actor. After winning a Golden Globe award in January, Brody celebrated with an Instagram post. In the comments, Berry wrote, “Congratulations my friend. You are truly one of one!”

On an episode of Watch What Happen Live with Andy Cohen in 2017, Berry shared more information about the moment saying it was “not planned” and “I knew nothing about it” beforehand.

“I was like, ‘What the f— is happening right now?’ That is what was going through my mind,” said Berry, who’d made history with her Best Actress Oscar win the year prior. “And because I was there the year before and I know the feeling of being out of your body, I just f—— went with it. But I was like, ‘What the f— is going on right now?’ “

When host Andy Cohen asked Berry, “How was the kiss?” she replied, “I don’t know — I was too focused on what the f— is going on right now! I don’t even know.”

Brody is nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in The Brutalist. Berry is set to present.
