MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) – Grammy winning singer-songwriter Angie Stone was killed in a crash on Interstate 65 in Montgomery County early Saturday morning, her manager Deborah Champagne confirmed to WSFA 12 News. She was 63.
Champagne says Stone was leaving a performance and heading toward the CIAA basketball tournament in Baltimore when the crash happened.
The Mobile Area Mardi Gras Association says that final performance was at the 2025 Grand Marshal’s Ball in Mobile.
Interstate 65 was partially blocked in Montgomery County for hours due to the wreck, which involved a commercial vehicle.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the crash happened just before 7 a.m. about 2 miles south of Hope Hull and blocked the left northbound lane and the left southbound lanes.
ALEA Troopers declared all lanes open and the scene clear at 11 a.m.
Nothing further is available at this time. ALEA Troopers continue investigate the incident.
