ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Viewers around western North Carolina shared photos and video of the lunar eclipse that happened during the early morning hours on March 14, 2025.

WNC SKIES EXPECTED TO CLEAR IN TIME TO SPOT BLOOD WORM MOON LUNAR ECLIPSE

The moon entered the Earth’s shadow in a partial eclipse at around 1 a.m. The total eclipse began at 2:26 a.m. and ended at 3:31 a.m.

Known as a “Blood Moon,” the moon turned a rusty red throughout totality when it was covered by the Earth’s shadow.
