Former Syracuse TV reporter abruptly quits CNN job (report)

A former Syracuse television reporter has abruptly quit her job at CNN, according to a new report.

Kristin Donnelly, the executive producer of CNN’s “The Source with Kaitlan Collins,” announced her sudden departure from the cable news channel on Thursday, according to media insider Oliver Darcy’s Status newsletter. Donnelly allegedly cited “brutal” working hours that were “taking a toll” on her.

Donnelly and CNN host Kaitlan Collins have not publicly commented on the report.

Donnelly is a longtime TV producer who had worked at Warner Bros. Discovery-owned CNN since 2017, according to her official bio, including work on “Inside Politics with John King” and “The Lead with Jake Tapper.” She previously worked at NBC News as a White House coverage producer and MSNBC as a senior producer.

Donnelly is a 2002 graduate of Syracuse University’s Newhouse School. She began her career as an on-air reporter, including at WGRZ in Buffalo, WTVH (now part of CNY Central) in Syracuse and WWNY in Watertown.

Collins anchors CNN’s primetime show, “The Source,” weeknights at 9 p.m. and serves as the network’s chief White House correspondent. The New York Post reports Collins had the most-watched CNN primetime show in the target demo of viewers ages 25-54 last week, though her overall viewership is a distant third behind Fox News’ Sean Hannity and MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow.
