FC Barcelona were back to their best in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, beating Real Madrid 5-2 in the final of the Spanish Super Cup. The win is not just a first trophy of the campaign for the team, but also a first trophy for many players, several of whom are Barça Atlètic squad members.
First trophy for 13 players
The Super Cup will be a competition that will last long in the memory of the players who took their first title as Barça players. Szczesny, Cubarsí, Iñigo Martínez, Fermín, Casadó, Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor all opened their accounts with the first team as did six players from the Barça Atlètic squad who travelled to Saudi Arabia; Ander Astralaga, Marc Bernal, Héctor Fort, Gerard Martín, Sergi Domínguez and Toni Fernández.
11 from La Masia
Of the 13 players who claimed their first trophy, 11 have a background at La Masia – Dani Olmo, Cubarsí, Pau Víctor, Ander Astralaga, Marc Bernal, Héctor Fort, Gerard Martín, Sergi Domínguez and Toni Fernández. The only players not to have been part of the Barça youth system at some point in their careers from the list are goalkeeper Szczesny and centre back Iñigo Martinez, two of the more experience members of the squad.

The curious case of Lamine Yamal
Although it is not officially the first trophy for Lamine Yamal, it is the first in which he has had a real impact. The teenager played seven minutes of a game against Betis in the victorious 2022/23 La Liga campaign for the blaugranes. This season in the Super Cup the teenager played a much bigger role in helping his team to the title, scoring twice in two matches in Saudi Arabia.
