The New York Knicks couldn’t hold onto their halftime lead Tuesday night, falling 114-102 to the Golden State Warriors at Madison Square Garden. Despite leading 55-47 at the break, the Knicks struggled to contain Stephen Curry, who erupted for 14 points in the third quarter, and Jimmy Butler, whose presence has fueled Golden State’s resurgence.

Head coach Tom Thibodeau pointed to defensive lapses as a key issue for New York. “Wide open 3-point shooters against a team that good—you just can’t do that,” he said.
The Warriors, meanwhile, credited their second-half turnaround to improved ball movement and defensive intensity. Draymond Green noted, “We started getting the ball to Jimmy more and let him create. The dominos fell in place.” Butler finished with 19 points, while Green contributed eight points, nine rebounds, and two steals.
With this victory, Golden State has now won nine of its last eleven games since Butler’s debut. Head coach Steve Kerr acknowledged the challenge of facing a strong Knicks team but emphasized the Warriors’ growing confidence. “This was probably our biggest challenge since we got Jimmy on our team,” he said.
Despite Jalen Brunson’s 25 points and OG Anunoby’s team-high 29, the Knicks couldn’t keep pace in the second half. The Warriors’ defense clamped down, limiting Brunson to just two points in the pivotal third quarter.
