A limited recall has been issued for one of Frito Lay’s most popular products for two U.S. states. Texas-based Frito Lay, which is headquartered in Plano, issued a recall in mid-December for an undeclared milk allergen found in 13-ounce Lay’s Classic Potato Chips.
Per a release from the PepsiCo-owned maker, the alert was issued after being alerted to consumer contact. “Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product.”

No allergic reactions were reported before the release was issued and no other Lay’s products, flavors, sizes or varieties were affected.

The recall affects chips distributed to retail stores and e-commerce distributors Oregon and Washington, per the notice, and must have both a “Guaranteed Fresh” date of February 11, 2025, as well as either of the following manufacturing codes:

If consumers have an allergy or sensitivity to milk, they should not consume the product and discard it immediately.
The chips were available for purchase as early as November 3, 2024 and Frito-Lay informed the FDA of the recall.
