Right now some people may need *** layer, *** light jacket, but soon enough the sun’s gonna be shining and we’re gonna feel great. Yeah, some of us are waking up in the 40s this morning. It is chilly. First warning meteorologist Kellyanne Class is here in. Monday. Good morning. Good morning, Marathon. Jason, good morning everyone. We have *** lot of changes over the next 7 days. Well, this morning this afternoon’s nice and quiet, we will have impact weather Wednesday afternoon and evening for *** few isolated strong to severe storms. Some of these storms could produce some gusty winds, and we’re going to be monitoring that tornado threat. But as of now, most of Central Florida is in that isolated, severe weather risk. It’s all thanks to *** cold front that will arrive on Wednesday. Right now though, things are nice and quiet. There’s not *** cloud in the sky to start. We’re getting the first glimpse of sunlight from our Tower Kim network in Daytona Beach, and it’s nice and calm this morning, but chilly with temperatures in the 40s and 50s. This afternoon we’ll have mostly sunny conditions, highs today in the 70s. Warming trend continues ahead of yet another cool down. We’ll break it all down for you coming up in *** few minutes. First though, let’s get over to Paul La Trista Naruto with *** check on traffic. Yeah, good morning, Kellyanne. Good morning, everyone. We are following *** crash right now in Marion County. I also want to show you this look from the F camera. This is at I-4 Westbound near Champions Gate, and you can see all of those brake lights heading to the westbound side. This morning an Orange County High School is grieving after *** student was killed in *** violent crash this weekend, and we know 4 died when 2 cars collided late on Saturday night. In fact, Windermere High says that he had been accepted into Duke University, but all of that was cut short by that terrible crash this weekend. That student was Sammy Lahi. He was 18 years old, and he was *** passenger in one of the cars involved in that crash. Now we could see the tracks, the tire tracks running off of Central Florida Parkway along with *** tree that was knocked down and pieces of the cars on the side of the road. Two cars were speeding there on Saturday just before 11 p.m. when they collided. Both went off the road, hitting *** light pole and several trees. The driver of the car that Lahi was in survived, but the Windermere High senior and another young man in that same car did not, and both people in the second car, *** man and woman in their twenties, were also killed. Folks we talked to near the site of that crash said the people need to remember speeding can kill. Always just aware of my surroundings and try to take my time, not *** race. People basically losing their lives for absolutely nothing. And we do not know the names of all the 3 other people killed in the crash yet, and FHP has not said if the driver who survived will face any charges for the crash. Orange County Public Schools does say that they will have grief counselors on hand here at Windermere High School for any students who think they need help talking about the situation today. The event is from 6:30 until 7:30 at the Moor’s Children’s Hospital Auditorium. Today the trial begins for *** man accused of killing his wife in the middle of *** shopping center. Back in October, investigators say Armando Carollero drove from Jacksonville to his wife’s job in Orlando after she blocked him. The two got into an argument in the parking lot. That’s when the suspect allegedly shot Unicey Rodriguez and then ran away, later being captured in Indian River County. The suspect has pleaded not guilty. Today in Volusia County, *** judge will sentence *** man found guilty of killing 3 people in *** wrong way crash. Devon Perkins faces up to life in prison. In December of 2022. Perkins was driving 100 miles an hour just before another driver going the wrong way hit his car. We’re hearing from witnesses after *** 62 year old suspect was shot and killed by Orlando police. Officers say it happened outside of an art center on East Colonial Drive early on Saturday morning. Investigators say the man refused to put down an assault rifle, which he’d been holding outside someone else’s door, forcing officers to open fire. *** man who works there says it was another artist who actually called 911. The artist that called, no, he He didn’t come out of his studio because he was working late on this artwork and felt threatened because the gentleman was banging on his door with the firearm in hand. The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on leave, and now FDLE is investigating. Are you seeing this video here? No one was hurt in this massive house fire in Altamonte Springs. Fire officials say they responded to Mimosa Drive around 2:40 yesterday afternoon, and they tell us *** dryer may have caught fire spreading to the home’s garage and *** neighbor’s fence. All the people and pets in the home are OK. Right now Florida lawmakers are getting ready to head back to Tallahassee for the legislative session. Now the state of the state address and joint chamber session will be held at 11 a.m., and once they are gamed in, they will address hundreds of bills already on the docket. Now some include *** statewide ban on putting fluoride in drinking water. Another would ban the use of AI toect guns in public places, and then *** pilot program that would ban phones on school campuses. Now the session will end on May 2nd. Tonight President Donald Trump is expected to impose new tariffs on key trade partners. West’s Sonika Dague is joining us now here live in studio. And Sonika, President Trump here says this is all *** negotiation tactic. Yeah, that’s right, he says by putting tariffs on Mexico and Canada, he’s hoping they’ll step up to help stem the flow of fentanyl into the US and increase border security. Now the Commerce Secretary says new tariffs on those two countries are set to kick. In around midnight tonight, executive orders call for tariffs on most Canadian and all Mexican imported goods worth more than $800. Also on the table, *** 10% hike on Chinese imports. That’s in addition to last month’s tariffs on the country. Economists predict that these tariffs will raise prices for goods like shoes, electronics, groceries, and especially vehicles. If you can buy one before Tuesday before the tariffs come in and we either shut down or become more expensive, you should go and do it. Could impose their own tariffs on the US. The Trump administration says the new tariffs could be good for the US in the end. Trump also said reciprocal tariffs on major trading partners are slated to take effect on April 2nd. We’ll be monitoring all of this very closely. Jason Mayer, back to you. Yeah, it’s something we’re going to watch very closely. Thanks. And we need to talk about *** comfortably cool start here in Central Florida. In one of the spots dealing with 40s, you need some layers for sure. Headed to the bus stop this morning. The kiddos are going to be cold in those locations by the coast though, you know, your upper 50s. First morning meteorologist Kellyanne Class is here now. Good morning. Good morning, Meredith and Jason. Good morning, everyone. Then this afternoon our temperatures top out in the mid 70s. Tomorrow morning milder with an afternoon high of 76 and some showers in the forecast, then changes on Wednesday with high temperatures reaching the mid 80s, but we have impact. Wednesday afternoon and evening as our next cold front moves in, and this cold front will bring in showers and thunderstorms as early as late morning Wednesday in parts of Marion County working towards the I-4 corridor throughout the afternoon. And some of these thunderstorms could be on the strong to severe side. The latest round of Futurecast showing things starting to break apart as it reaches the I-4 corridor, but still keeping some showers around. But I am expecting that line to hold through. As we go towards the afternoon hours, *** long I-4 coming up in *** few minutes, we’ll tell you how this cold front will impact the tournament at Bay Hill this week. But first, it is 6:09. Let’s get over to Paul Larisa Neruda with *** check on traffic. Good morning everyone. Still following this incident on State Road 40 at Northwest 60th Avenue in Ocala. So far though, I’m not seeing too much of *** backup because of that crash. Also want to show you *** live. Look, this is I-4 facing westbound in downtown Orlando. You can see either side of the roadway. Traffic is flowing nicely. No major delays or issues for you this Monday. Also want to show you *** look at some of those drive times if you’re heading out on 408 eastbound I-4 to State Road 417 about 6 minutes, and if you’re heading west, about *** 7 minute drive. Coming up we’ll take *** look at some other road conditions and I’ll be monitoring in case any crashes pop up.
