A Langley BC Dairy Queen is reportedly celebrating Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s resignation by offering $2 burgers, according to reports. Trudeau declared his resignation from both his role as Prime Minister and Liberal Party leadership on Monday.
This announcement signifies a significant change in Canada’s political landscape. Although the specific date of his departure is not yet determined, Trudeau will continue his Prime Ministerial duties until his successor is appointed, though this transition might occur rapidly.
“I intend to resign as party leader, as Prime Minister after the party selects its next leader. Last night I asked the president of the Liberal Party to start that process,” Trudeau during his farewell address in Ottawa, adding, “he will leave office as soon as the ruling Liberal party chooses a new leader.”
Photos circulating online show a large board featuring the Dairy Queen “DQ” logo with the text below reading: “Grill & Chill TRUDEAU RESIGNATION SPECIAL $2 BURGERS Drive-thru.”
Social media users on X shared their experiences about the promotion. One user who posted the offer asserted, “For the record it was insanely packed. I seen my own MLA and local friends in there, and they finished eating sit down before i got thru the drive thru.”
A different user expressed surprise, writing, “This is real??? LMAO I’m going to have DQ for lunch tomorrow.”
Another remarked, “No joke – they must have run out of those burgers fast.”
Trudeau, Canada’s 23rd Prime Minister and son of former Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau, took office on November 4, 2015, after leading the Liberal Party to victory in that year’s federal elections.
