Brest manager surrenders to the genius of Real Madrid – ‘They have a lot of talent’
Brest coach Eric Roy reflected on the stark difference in quality between his side and Real Madrid after their 0-3 defeat, expressing pride in his players despite the result.
Roy acknowledged the immense talent of Carlo Ancelotti’s team and admitted that the gap in skill was clear, calling it “impressive.”
After the match, Roy explained that his emotions were mixed, as he felt both pride and frustration. He highlighted the determination and effort displayed by his players but was disappointed with the final score.
Praise for Real Madrid
Roy praised Real Madrid’s performance, recognising their high level of play but also noting that Brest had moments when they could have caused trouble for the Spanish giants.
“I leave the game with a mixture of positive feelings about the will my team showed and a feeling of frustration about the result. Real Madrid were impressive although we felt we could have put them in trouble,” he assessed.

He pointed out that the lack of precision in the final stages was a key factor in the result, as Brest was unable to convert their chances when they had them.
The coach also remarked that, while they were aware of the challenge that awaited them, they were not entirely outclassed.
“We lacked a bit of precision in the final metres and were more effective in the chances we had to score.”
Real Madrid’s talent was undeniable, but Roy believed that his team had given their all, competing hard and showing resilience. He admitted that despite the efforts, they were not able to match the precision and effectiveness of a team like Real Madrid.
“We expected a great Real Madrid and we saw that they have a lot of talent. More than us, who gave everything we had so that at times, we were not far behind,” he noted.
