COLUMBUS, Ohio — Bone-chilling temperatures didn’t stop more than 90,000 people from packing Ohio Stadium for the NHL Stadium Series game on Saturday evening.
“We’re freezing our butts off but who cares,” said Columbus Blue Jackets fan Jim Smith.
For many, their support for the Blue Jackets runs deep.
“We love hockey. We’ve been season ticket holders since they started. We just love this whole thing, this is an amazing venue,” said Smith
People of all ages attended the game, and for the younger ones, their sights were set high.
“It’s just fun seeing how good they are, seeing how they move the puck,” said fan Cooper Smith.
Of course, family rivalry makes it all the more fun.
“My wife is a Wings fan, so it’s fun to have both of us here and get to experience the game together. It’s just tremendous,” said Jackets fan James Smith.
The Blue Jackets defeated the Red Wings 5-3.
The matchup had the second-highest attendance in NHL history.
