Barcelona star Raphinha continues inspirational form to lead Brazil to crucial win

Barcelona forward Raphinha was in inspirational form yet again on Thursday as Brazil beat Colombia in World Cup qualifying.

The Barca star opened the scoring after just six minutes from the penalty spot after Vinicius was fouled by Daniel Munoz.

However, Colombia equalised just before the break when James Rodríguez played in Luis Díaz to fire home.

There was then a nasty incident in the second half when Davinson Sanchez collided with Alisson which saw both players taken off after a lengthy stoppage.

Brazil then went on to win the game in stoppage time when Raphinha sent Vini Jr away to score a really brilliant goal from range to take all three points.

Raphinha also showed his leadership skills but ushering Vini off the pitch after he’d been subbed when it looked like he was going to get booked – which would have resulted in a one-match ban.

“We really needed this win, not just us, the players, but also the technical committee, the day-to-day staff, and the fans. I hope this victory is the turning point we needed,” he told the media after afterwards.

Brazil now go on to play Argentina in another huge game in World Cup qualifying.
