BUTTE, Mont. — Fabric and craft chain Joann will close more than 500 stores in 49 states, including two in Montana.

The company’s Butte and Helena locations are expected to be part of the widespread closures.

This comes as the company filed for bankruptcy on Jan. 15, 2025.

Joann Fabrics and Crafts originally filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March 2024 but became a private company to keep stores open.

The company cited inventory issues as the leading cause.
