Texas football’s 2024-25 season ended Friday night, losing to Ohio State 28-14 in the College Football Playoff semifinals.
The Longhorns were able to keep it competitive late into the fourth quarter, but things fell apart with three minutes left in the game. On the 1-yard line, Texas ran a pitch play which led to running back Quintrevion Wisner being tackled for a loss of seven yards. Two plays later, Buckeyes defensive end Jack Sawyer strip-sacked quarterback Quinn Ewers and ran the fumble back for an 83-yard touchdown.
The following drive ended after Ohio State defensive back Caleb Downs intercepted Ewers. The quarterback finished the game with 283 yards, two touchdowns and an interception on 23-of-39 passing.

Texas’ defense had another stellar game. After giving up an opening drive touchdown, the Longhorns held Ohio State’s offense to 14 points over the rest of the game. The Texas offense was simply unable to capitalize on the chances they were given.
