After a four-game losing streak, the Los Angeles Lakers have made it back-to-back wins with victories over the Phoenix Suns and San Antonio Spurs. With LeBron James currently sidelined due to a groin injury, recently acquired guard Luka Doncic has carried the offensive load for Los Angeles.
While he has not been alone, as Austin Reaves has also stepped up in the absence of James, Doncic is LA’s engine offensively. The former Dallas Mavericks guard finished with 21 points, nine rebounds and 14 assists in Monday’s win over San Antonio, making it nine straight games with at least 20 points.

This streak of 20-point games for Doncic has made team history, as the Slovenian superstar has achieved something no Lakers guard has done since Kobe Bryant in 2013.
“Luka Doncic has the most consecutive 20-point games by a Lakers guard since Kobe in 2013,” StatMamba on X revealed.
This is just one of the ways Doncic has made history since being traded to the Lakers. Eclipsing 200 points, 50 rebounds, and 50 assists in his first 10 games with the Lakers, Doncic joined James as the only other player in franchise history to achieve that feat (via StatMamba).
Doncic has averaged 26.2 points, 8.8 rebounds and 8.1 assists in 15 games since joining the Lakers, and LA has gone 10-5 in those games.
LA’s next contest will come against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday. The two teams have been battling for positioning in the Western Conference standings, and are again tied in the loss column.
