Lamine Yamal says ‘anger’ fuelled Barcelona’s stunning comeback against Atletico

Lamine Yamal couldn’t hide his delight at scoring as Barcelona beat Atletico 4-2 in a thrilling game in La Liga on Sunday.

Barca looked to be heading for defeat after going 2-0 down but Barca hit back through Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres to level the game.

Yamal then made it 3-2 with a lovely goal, before Ferran struck again to completely finish off Atletico.

Here’s what Yamal made of it all:

“I’m very happy with the victory. It was a very important game. We celebrated in the locker room, enjoying ourselves together. Very happy,” he told reporters.

“I think it was some anger because we were playing well but we were down. Robert’s goal was very important. So was Ferran’s and then we scored the third one.

“I knew that if I score, it would be in important matches. In the end I don’t care much about not scoring in some matches, as long as the team is winning. Today we needed this goal. I scored the third goal, and I think it was a very important goal.

“Beating Atlético today is a real blow. It means regaining the lead with one game in hand.”

The win means Barca head into the international break on top of the table and with a game in hand on rivals Real Madrid and Atletico.
