Tulsa faces surge in emergency calls as TFD responds to fires and medical incidents

TULSA, OKLA (KTUL) — The Tulsa Fire Department (TFD) responded to 283 calls on Friday, March 14.

High winds, dry vegetation, and low relative humidity significantly increased fire-related incidents and power line issues.

From 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., TFD responded to the following weather-related incidents:

  • Lines Down: 58
  • Grass/Brush Fires: 36
  • House Fires: 9
  • Building Fire: 1
  • Apartment Fire: 1
  • Shed Fires: 2
  • Car Fire: 1
  • Dumpster Fire: 1
  • Transformer Fires: 5

Additionally, TFD responded to a high volume of personal and vehicle collision calls.

Crews responded to the following:

  • Breathing Problems: 18
  • Motor Vehicle Accidents: 12
  • Unconscious/Fainting: 14
  • Heart Problems/AICD: 11
  • Unknown Problem (Man Down): 11
  • Chest Pain (Non-Traumatic): 10

“We continue to urge residents to exercise caution with open flames, avoid outdoor burning, and report any downed power lines to authorities immediately,” TFD said.
