- Gervonta “Tank” Davis will defend his WBA lightweight title for the second time on Saturday night, taking on Lamont Roach.
- Roach, the WBA junior lightweight champion, is moving up a weight class to challenge for Davis’s belt.
- The fight will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Only two fighters have ever gone the distance with Gervonta “Tank” Davis in his 12 years as a professional, and neither managed to have his hand raised.
Lamont Roach seeks to become the first to do so on Saturday night, as he moves up a division to challenge Davis for the WBA lightweight title in Brooklyn. Roach, a world champion at 130-pounds since 2023, was allowed by the WBA to move up in weight and face Davis while retaining his junior lightweight title.
Davis is a two-division world champion and has become one of boxing’s greatest attractions at the box office as he’s dispatched opponent after opponent, many of them with highlight-reel one-punch knockouts. And he’s predicting another stoppage on Saturday.
“It’s going to get bad. He’s been talking too much too, so we’ll see Saturday night …” Davis said at Thursday’s press conference. “You know what I come to do and why I’m here. I don’t want to say too much, I’ll keep it polite. I know there will be fireworks.”

Gervonta Davis vs Lamont Roach fight predictions
Tank Davis has stopped 93.33% of his opponents and the odds favor him adding another knockout to his resume on Saturday.
Lamont Roach has impressed in his two most recent outings, claiming and defending the WBA 130-pound title, but his path to victory against Davis is far less clear than it was against Hector Luis Garcia or Feargal McCrory.
Roach can utilize his superior size and jab to try and maintain distance while boxing from range, but Davis is an expert at closing off the ring and at close range he’s extremely efficient, and effective, with his thunderous power punching.
Roach may find some success early in the fight as Davis settles in, but I see Davis steadily ramping up his pressure approaching the latter half of the bout and landing a show-stopping blow inside 10 rounds.
Predictions: Davis def. Roach by KO-8 | Valenzuela def. Russell by SD | Puello def. Martin by MD | Tellez def. Williams by UD
