Here’s what to know about the Oscars and how to watch it live.

How to watch the Oscars

The event will be broadcast live on ABC and streaming on Hulu. Cable subscribers can also access the show online at abc.com and in the ABC app.

Here’s how to watch outside the US.

What time does the red carpet start?

Who is hosting the Oscars?

Conan O’Brien, the former late-night host and comedian, will be taking charge of this Sunday’s Oscars. He’s taking over from Jimmy Kimmel, who has hosted the ceremony four times since 2017.

Asked why he decided to accept the hosting gig, Conan, after joking about the appeal of the gig’s paycheck, explained that the “the Oscars has meaning”.

“Really good cinema – especially when it’s from different countries, different points of view – has an incredible amount of resonance and importance right now, and this is the night that celebrates that. To be a part of it is meaningful to me,” he told the New York Times.

What’s in the Oscars goody bags?

In light of the devastating California wildfires, the marketing company behind the goody bags handed out at Oscars has tweaked its offerings, with key inclusions reflecting the disaster.

The bag includes more than $1m worth of personalised disaster recovery services, the offer of complimentary home renovation project management and cannabis products, among other treats.
